  • Create a shopping bag kit and keep it in your car
  • Plan ahead and avoid impulse purchasing
  • At the market, choose the “ugly” produce (i.e. misshapen or slightly blemished)  that no one else wants
  • Compost kitchen scraps
  • Avoid all single use plastics (balloons, Styrofoam, straws, etc.) and products with microbeads
  • Shun over-packaged items
  • Reduce junk mail
  • Use your local library
  • Recycle, Free-cycle, swap, etc.
  • Contact companies and ask them to reduce packaging
  • Drop shopping “therapy” and find a new hobby
