- Create a shopping bag kit and keep it in your car
- Plan ahead and avoid impulse purchasing
- At the market, choose the “ugly” produce (i.e. misshapen or slightly blemished) that no one else wants
- Compost kitchen scraps
- Avoid all single use plastics (balloons, Styrofoam, straws, etc.) and products with microbeads
- Shun over-packaged items
- Reduce junk mail
- Use your local library
- Recycle, Free-cycle, swap, etc.
- Contact companies and ask them to reduce packaging
- Drop shopping “therapy” and find a new hobby
